On this day 41 years ago, Don Lockerbie ran one of the fastest 880 yards runs ever recorded by a Suffolk County athlete.

As the lead-off man of the Section XI two mile relay team, Lockerbie ran brisk 1:55.9 to help the Suffolk boys earn a second place finish. One year later, Lockerbie would set the school record in the 880 with a scorching 1:51.9, a mark that has not been approached since.
