On Monday night, at the Suffolk County baseball coaches meeting, senior Erik Holvik was named to the All-League and All-County teams. He is the first Stony Brook player to be included on the All-County team since Pete Grimm in 1999.
Holvik led the team with a .408 batting average and was the team’s best pitcher. His best performance of the season came when he held Pierson, a team bound for the Class C County Championship, hitless over six innings before being taken out by virtue of his pitch count.
Beyond his performance on the field, Holvik was the consummate leader for a young team that grew in the knowledge and skill throughout the season. Erik will continue his baseball career next year at Gordon College.
