The ’75 swim team

On this day 40 years ago, the swim team won their first dual meet since joining the public school league. After a 23-meet losing streak, the Blue and White dispatched Sachem, 43-39, to earn the victory. It would not be long before the program reached prominence.

After an 0-13 record in both 1975-76 and 1976-77, followed by four years without a team, the program’s fortunes would change with the arrival of Roger Wycoff in 1981. With Wycoff leading the way, the Brook would rack up a 38-4 record and two League Championships over the next four years. Wycoff would go on to win four Empire State Games crowns, a State Championship, and three Suffolk County titles. He was named a high school All-American in 1984.
