On this day 24 years ago, the boys’ swim team won the League II Invitational to cap a dominant season.

Seniors Rob Meltzer (100 butterfly), Peter Salvan (50 freestyle), Dana Brown (breaststroke), and Liam O’Connell (diving) anchored the team that won by an average of 30 points during their dual meet season. In addition, sophomore Willie Smith (200 and 500 freestyle) and freshman Jonathan Meltzer (100 breaststroke) set team records in their events and qualified for the Suffolk County Championships.

It was the team’s first League Championship and first undefeated season since 1985.
