On this day two years ago, the girls’ basketball team won a huge game against their crosstown rival, Port Jefferson.
With first place in the league on the line, the Brook jumped out to a commanding 20-6 lead after the first quarter. The early lead would prove to be just enough as the Royals won each of the next three quarters 10-9, 8-6, and 14-6 as the Blue and White gutted out a 41-38 win on the way to the program’s 12th league championship since 1997.
Keara Vancol and Ariana Odom each recorded double-doubles to lead the way for the Bears. Vancol finished with 18 points and 17 rebounds and Odom with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Madison Rylands added 3 points and 10 rebounds.
