On this day 49 years ago, the basketball team romped over their old rival, Poly Prep, by a 75-57 margin. At one point, the Blue and White held a 30-point lead over the Brooklynites.
Jerry Armfield, the reigning Ivy League Player of the Year, poured in 39 points to lead the Brooker charge, highlighted by two emphatic dunks that rocked Carson Gymnasium.
Armfield would go on to be selected to the All-Long Island team in 1966 before playing basketball at New York University.
