On this day 66 years ago, Bruce Dodd competed in the A.A.U. Open Track Meet in New York City in the 600 yard run. The event boasted over 100 college runners with Dodd the only high schooler in the race. In spite of the odds, he took 3rd place overall and was awarded a trophy.
