The season’s first New York State Sportswriters Association poll came out today and the Bears, the reigning Class C Suffolk County Champions, are slotted at #7 on the list. They are additionally ranked the #1 Class C team on Long Island ahead of Lawrence Woodmere Academy and Pierson. In the last poll from 2013-2014 the boys were ranked #10 in New York State Class C and #8 overall in Suffolk County.
The Bears are currently the owners of a 2-0 league record and have won their three games by an average of 29.7 points. They have also won 16 consecutive games against League VIII opponents dating back to last season.
