On this day 19 years ago, the boys’ basketball squad clipped Class A Northport, a State Tournament semifinalist the year before, in the Smithtown Holiday Tournament.

Heading into the fourth quarter, the Bears trailed the Tigers by two, but fought back to tie the game at 34-34 with under a minute to play. With 27 seconds left, Robbie Marvin stepped up to the free throw line with a chance to give the Blue and White the lead. He connected on both free throws to provide the edge for the Brook in a 36-34 win.

The Bears outscored Northport 10-6 over the final eight minutes of the game to upset the public school giant. Marvin, the only player on either squad to finish in double-figures, scored 19, connecting on three 3-pointers along with the two clutch free throws.
