The ’47 Blue & White

On this day 67 years ago, the football team clobbered Seton Hall, 33-0.

The game remained close through much of the first quarter until Jack Kaplan scored to put the Brook in the lead. By halftime the rout was on as the Blue and White pushed across two more touchdowns in the second frame.

At the half, coach Floyd Johnson encouraged his boys to keep fighting, and they responded by scoring twice more while holding the Hall’s offense in check.

Shorty Haff and Kaplan each recorded two touchdowns while Gerry Walker added a score of his own. Baxter Rees’ sure foot provided the extra points.

Though the game itself was not closely contested, Mr. Johnson’s bouts with the officials were highly entertaining.
