On this day 74 years ago, the football team edged East Hampton, 19-18, thanks to a furious fourth quarter comeback.

The Brook took an early 7-0 lead when Dave McMinn fell on a blocked punt in East Hampton’s end zone, but the home team came thundering back in the second period thanks to two dynamic plays from Sam Digate. The imposing halfback scored on a 65-yard run before intercepting a pass and taking it all the way in for an 85-yard tally.

The East Enders took a commanding 18-7 lead in the third quarter when they turned a Stony Brook fumble on the ten-yard line into a third score. While the outlook was grim, the Blue and White did not give in. Quarterback John Ryder engineered an electrifying comeback, throwing touchdown passes to Edwin Ludwig and John Deahl to give the Brook a victory in the season finale.
