The 1987 Cross Country squad

On this day 27 years ago, the boys’ cross country team brought home a second straight County Championship, after having swept away League VIII with an unblemished record.

The Brook saturated the top spots, placing five runners in the top seven to give them a 20-point total and a comfortable margin over Mattituck (54), Hampton Bays (90), and Center Moriches (105). The boys would cap an impressive season one week later when they placed 4th in the New York State Meet, the team’s highest finish in ten years.

Marc Conti, Justin DuPree, Peter Hurtado, and Anders Brownworth were named All-Conference while David Setran earned All-League distinction.
