On this day five years ago, the girls’ soccer team turned a slim halftime lead over Mercy into a second half blowout, thanks to a career-high four goals from Kelsey Wentling.
Up just 2-1 at the midpoint, the girls unleashed a second half cannonade, scoring six times en route to an 8-1 victory. Wentling added an assist to go along with her four-goal tally while Michelle Hennessy contributed 2 goals and 2 assists.
Wentling’s goal total is still tied for the school record with Carolyn Gilroy (1999), Donna Liotine (2010), and Michelle Hennessy (2010).
