This afternoon, amid residual weather from last night’s nor’easter, the girls’ cross country squad competed in the Tom Knipfing Memorial Invitational held at Firemen’s Field.
Miranda Harrigan continued her impressive freshman season with a 5th place finish in the small schools run in a time of 21:08, a mark that would have given her a first place finish in the large schools race by seven seconds. She was followed by Anna Brummeler (12th/23:32), Lely Garner (15th/23:42), Nicole Gray (17th/23:58), Zarmeen Akhund (35th/27:09), Kelly Yu (54th/28:25), Alma Rojas (55th/28:26), Kelly Campbell (58th/28:56), and Derya Ozcan (69th/31:14).
The team’s total score of 70 was good enough to beat Comsewogue, John Glenn, and Shoreham-Wading River for a 3rd place finish.
