On this day 18 years ago, the girls’ soccer team won an overtime thriller over Mercy thanks to late game heroics from Heather MacLeod and Brooke Meserole.

Trailing 0-1 with 3:10 left in regulation, MacLeod netted the equalizer to force overtime. Then, with 2:25 remaining in the second overtime period and the prospect of a tie looming, Meserole scored, thanks to an assist from Caitlin Banks, to give the Bears a 2-1 victory. Jaclyn Cafarelli had 18 saves in the victory.
