On this day 13 years ago, the girl’s swim team topped Huntington, 54-47, in record-breaking fashion.

In the 400 freestyle relay, Ashley Singer, Caitlin McQuilling, Caitlin Kevins, and Victoria Fresolone raced to a mark of 4:01.06, demolishing the previous record of 4:06.7 set in 1998 by Lauren Bates, Bibi Kahn, Ashley Singer, and Kiera McGill.

In the individual events, Amanda Shapiro took first in the 200 IM (2:24.23) and the 100 breaststroke (1:12.84), Fresolone set the pace in the 50 freestyle (26.27) and the 100 backstroke (1:07.23), Kevins took the 100 butterfly (1:03.65) and the 500 freestyle (5:36.29), and Singer won the 100 freestyle (1:00.28).

The Bears also took the 200 medley relay as Theresa Lutke Schelhowe, Shapiro, Kevins, and Fresolone outpaced the Blue Devils in a time of 2:07.46.
