In their toughest test of the season thus far, the Adelphi University women’s soccer team fell in overtime, 3-2, but not before some heroics by Donna Liotine ’11.

After taking a 1-0 lead just seven minutes into the match, the Panthers fell behind 1-2 midway through the second half. They still trailed with just 21 minutes remaining when Liotine, our former star midfielder, was given a penalty kick after a foul in the box by Assumption College. Liotine put the strike home to level the match, 2-2. The Panthers would later fall when the Greyhounds scored a minute into the second extra period.

The loss is the Panthers’ first of the season as they fall to 6-1-1 (3-1-1). They have an opportunity to get back to their winning ways on Saturday at Franklin Pierce University.
