The girls’ tennis team kept their record unblemished yesterday with a decisive 5-2 victory over Sachem North. The Bears dominated singles play, sweeping the four matches behind great performances from Akari Yoshida (6-2, 6-2), Sadhana Sridhar (6-0, 6-0), Nancy Lin (6-1, 6-0), and Olivia Braat (6-0, 6-1).

Angela Wong/Ha Min Cho (4-6, 6-3, 4-6) and Brianna Holochuck/Gracie Xie (4-6, 6-2, 2-6) narrowly dropped their doubles matches while Jillian Ho/Chelsea Garbe (7-6 (2), 4-6, 7-5) won a thriller.

Head coach Jennifer Crane had this to say about her team’s victory:

Chelsea Garbe made a strong showing in her first time in the line-up this afternoon. She stepped into second doubles and won many key points at the net. Jillian’s speed combined with her volleys made the winning difference in a close match.

Akari played particularly beautiful tennis today. Her footwork and placement are in top form. Mentally she’s come back tougher than ever after a couple of learning losses. Beware.

With the win the Brook improves to 5-0 and are tied atop League VI with Sachem East. The two undefeated teams will play for league supremacy this Wednesday at 4:30.
