Jerome Washington ’12 had four receptions and a pair of touchdowns in Gattaca’s opening scrimmage last night, leading them to a 48-14 win over the Albright College junior varsity. The Gattaca football team is affiliated with Mercer County Community College in West Windsor Township, NJ and competes against NCAA junior varsity and junior college teams with the goal of helping their student-athletes get recruited to NCAA schools.
On his first score, Washington caught a 20-yard pass, then shook off three defenders before scampering into the end zone. For an encore he snared a 40-yard toss with a defender draped all over him, before diving into the end zone for the score.
Washington shared with us his thoughts about last night’s game:
I feel that we executed well on offense. I'm happy that we got the win and that everybody came out of the game healthy.
Washington and Gattaca are back in action on September 8 against Delaware Valley College.
