XC Cruises Past Class Rival

Rashba, shown here vs. Ross, was the leader for the Bears

The boys’ and girls’ cross country squads made a statement on Tuesday with the County Championships just two weeks away by each defeating Pierson/Bridgehampton, a perennial Class D rival. The boys’ team, behind Jacob Brummeler’s 19:03, ran to a 22-35 victory over the Whalers, the second Class D team they have defeated this season along with the Ross School. If they can defeat Southold at Indian Island on October 18 they will cement their position as the top team in the class.

Margot Rashba paced the girls’ team to a 23-32 win over Pierson/Bridgehampton and a 26-31 victory over Port Jefferson with a time of 21:28, helping them improve to 3-0 in League VIII. They close their season on October 18 vs. Southold with a chance to finish the season as undefeated League Champions.
