Football’s Victory Over Mercy Featured in Three Village Patch

Liotine once again did it all for the Bears

On Friday night, our football team got off to its best start since 2006 by dispatching Mercy, 43-35, in one of the most thrilling games in recent history. The Three Village Patch recapped the game.

Liotine Leads Bears Over Mercy

Don Liotine proved Saturday that he can do pretty much anything a football player can be asked to do. The Stony Brook junior caught a touchdown pass, ran for two scores, and threw a 52-yard touchdown pass when he stepped into the game as quarterback to help The Stony Brook School beat Mercy, 43-35, on Saturday. Liotine totaled 217 all-purpose yards and had nine tackles on defense for the Bears, who are off to a 2-0 start.

Wyatt Piazza also spent time at quarterback, throwing 4-for-6 for 120 yards and two touchdowns, and Andrew White added a touchdown on an 80-yard kickoff return.

Late in the game Mercy pulled off a successful onside kick, but the Stony Brook defense made a successful fourth down stop on its own 20-yard line with 1:15 left in the game to secure the Bears’ victory.
