Tyler Abrahamsen shot a 74 yesterday at the challenging St. George’s Golf Course to qualify for the Long Island Junior Championship on August 24 and 25.
He started his day off strong with back-to-back birdies to immediately move to 2-under. He gave it right back with bogies on the 5th and 6th, but came back strong with a birdie on the par three 9th, putting it within five feet and then sinking his putt for a birdie. He birdied on the 10th to move back to 2-under, but after a double-bogey on the 12th and a bogey on the 13th he fell to +1.
Abrahamsen did not have his best round but he showed resilience, particularly on the 17th when he converted a difficult up and down from the bunker. The rising junior finished high on the leaderboard and is looking forward to another strong performance in in two weeks.
