On this day 44 years ago, Dick Malmstrom finished a fantastic senior campaign with a victory over Lutheran to lift his record to 10-1. The 1967 baseball squad was one of the best in school history, finishing 17-2 overall and 11-1 in the league to capture our first and only Ivy League Championship on the diamond and Malmstrom was no small part of the Blue and White’s success.
On this day he allowed just 3 hits and 1 earned run while striking out 11 as the Brook pulled out a 4-3 victory in eight innings. For the year Malmstrom allowed just 7 earned runs and 35 hits in 83 innings while striking out 108 to garner a stingy 0.76 ERA.
