In the first invitational of the season our boys 4 x 400 relay team took 1st place at the Amityville Invitational this past Saturday on a frigid and windy day on the track. Khoren Lawson’s opening leg 52.4 helped the Bears separate themselves from the pack. A 61.4 second leg followed from Jeffrey Fung that allowed Bayport-Blue Point to overcome us, but Jon Wentling closed the gap with a 53.9, leaving the team’s hopes squarely on the shoulders of Taylor Colucci.
Our anchor took back the lead from the Phantoms on the way to a 52-second winning lap. Coach Jake Morley was pleased with the 3:39.5 on such a cold day this early in the season and is excited about the team’s potential in subsequent meets.
