Tomorrow morning, Taylor Colucci and Khoren Lawson will travel into New York City for the New Balance Indoor Nationals where they will compete against competition from across the United States. Colucci and Lawson are two of 28 qualifiers in the Emerging Elite category of the 60-meter dash and will face competitors from New York, Connecticut, Maryland, Virginia, Maine, Michigan, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Ohio, Tennessee, and Georgia.

Lawson will also be competing in the Emerging Elite triple jump against 19 other qualifiers from Georgia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and California.

Our first and only National Champion was Stony Brook Hall of Famer Paul Cuffari who won the shot put in the National Prep School Track and Field Championships held at Madison Square Garden. On February 18, 1950 his toss of 52′ 3.25″ gave him the historic victory.
