On Saturday February 26, Taylor Colucci raced to a 4th place finish in the 55 meter dash at the Long Island Championships, a meet that included both Nassau and Suffolk schools as well as the Catholic school powerhouses. Colucci’s seed time of 6.71 placed him in 7th position going into the event, but a 6.64 in the semifinals was 3rd best among the field and one of the fastest times on Long Island for the season.
He came back strong in the finals with a 6.67, good enough for 4th place in a deep field. He now has his eyes set on the State Championships on March 5. Colucci’s 6.64 currently places him in a tie for 3rd place in New York State’s Class C while Khoren Lawson’s 6.58 at the Yale Classic is the #1 time in Class C this season.
