On this day 62 years ago, Bruce Dodd finished 2nd in the 440 yard dash at the National Prep School Championships held at Madison Square Garden. He saved his best performance of the season for the biggest stage as his previous best finish was 3rd place in the 600 yard dash at the A.A.U. Open Meet in New York City. His time of 51.7 established a new school record.

Milt Evers also competed in the long jump.
