On this day 78 years ago…
The basketball team, 22 years before the invention of the shot clock, set a school record for margin of victory in a 103-6 trouncing of Brooklyn’s Colby Academy. Howard Reese, Jr. lead the way with 33 points while Fred Peters and Theodore Smyth chipped in with 27 and 18, respectively. Each, along with two other Brookers, single-handedly outscored the entire Colby team. Leading 53-4 at halftime, the Blue and White allowed a mere two points in the second half to improve to 4-0 on the season. In their seventeen other games that year the Brook averaged 38.5 points per game.
The varsity team was fairly well established by the time of the Colby game and showed their good teamwork by smothering the visitors by the unbelievable score of 103 to 6.~ Res Gestae 1933
