Boys’ Soccer Sweeps Holy War

The boys soccer team (shown huddling before the Southold match) won the 2nd installment of the Holy War

Withstanding the inclement weather and the decided home field advantage for their opponent, the boys’ soccer team completed the season sweep of Smithtown Christian with a 3-1 victory. After the Crusaders grabbed a 1-0 lead, Lukas Alijosius scored a crucial equalizer just before the half, courtesy of a cross from Anuraag Sah. Midway through the second half, with the game still knotted at 1-1, Khoren Lawson struck the eventual game-winner, tucking the ball through the goalie’s legs and into the net.

Brian Jeong sealed the game with his first goal of the season with Sah again providing the assist. Phil Gape (7 saves) provided important minutes in goal, replacing Wes Woodley who was out with an injury. The Brook improves to 7-2 and currently stands at 2nd in League VIII.

Khoren Lawson's blast gave the Bears a 2-1 lead midway through the second half. Lukas Alijosius scored to tie the game at the end of the first half off a cross from Anuraag Sah.

With five minutes left, Sah played a free kick into the box, and it was redirected by Brian Jeong into the back of the net for his first goal of the season. Senior goalkeeper Phil Gape played well in his first full game of his career, producing several saves to keep the Bears in the game.
