On This Day in History | 1943

On this day 67 years ago…

After eight years of futility vs. their Brooklyn rivals, the football team finally clipped Poly Prep, 6-0, on Fitch Field. It was a war of attrition as both squads went into the fourth quarter deadlocked at 0-0. Bernard Reilly placed Stony Brook on the precipice in the final period with a 25-yard run and Caleb Sniffin became the hero that day as his 1-yard run proved the difference in the game.

Victory over Poly for the first time in eight years.  Great jubilation.
